Public and patient involvement (PPI)
Members of the public are closely involved with the work of the Health Services and Delivery Research (HS&DR) Evidence Synthesis Team. We have a public representative co-applicant, and public panels which help and advise us throughout all stages of each project. We work with networks of voluntary and community groups who offer expertise for particular topics.
The public are involved in roles including helping the research teams to shape the research questions, adding knowledge to help understanding of what the findings mean, giving advice on sharing the findings, and contributing to production of materials to ensure understanding of the findings amongst the wider community.
We have a Public Advisory Group (PAG) specifically for the Health Services and Delivery Research Centre, which provides ongoing advice regarding public involvement for all the projects.

Public advisor training resources
Training session for public advisors who are involved in evidence synthesis research, led by Dr Susan Baxter (Senior Research Fellow), Anna Cantrell (Information Specialist/Information Sciences Lead) and Fiona Campbell (Research Fellow) from SCHARR.
Second session on evidence synthesis methods used in the HS&DR Centre and the Public Health Review Team, led by Andrew Booth and Duncan Chambers from SCHARR at the University of Sheffield.
